Industeel, part of the Arcelor Mittal Group, specializes in the production of hot-rolled quarto plates in the world’s largest dimensional range. Industeel Charleroi (Belgium) and Industeel Creusot (France) plants are rolling sheets between 4 – 180 mm in thickness and up to 4000 mm in width with a maximum unit weight per plate of 20 tons, while the Industeel Loire (France) rolls the most demanding dimensional specifications thicknesses 80 – 950 mm in width up to 4300 mm with maximum unit weight of up to 100 tons. All three plants with a total capacity of 430,000 tons annually produce steel exclusively in electric arc furnaces and secondary metallurgy with 100% vacuum degassing guarantees maximum steel purity. State-of-the-art hardening fiacilities and annealing furnaces ensure a homogeneous microstructure as well as constant hardness and other mechanical properties across the entire plate. Sheets can also be supplied shot-blasted or painted. Subsequently, other Industeel plants focusing on the production of special products – ArcelorMittal Ringmill (rolled rings), Industeel France St Chamond (large-size heads) and Industeel Dunkirk (cutting, beveling, bending, sheet metal forming) – continue to build on primary steel production.
The range of steels produced is extremely wide. Industeel has traditionally been dedicated to stainless steels, producing both “classic” austenitic and ferritic-martensitic steels, as well as various special stainless grades such as duplexes, super-austenites, heat-resistant stainless steels or high Ni alloys. In the carbon structural steel segment, Industeel focuses primarily on more demanding specifications such as pressure vessel steels including applications for the nuclear energy market, cryogenic steels, or high temperature steels, steels for hydrogen-sulfide containing applications (= steels with HIC test), steel for offshore structures, etc. Another traditional segment is high strength hardened and tempered plates manufactured under the trademark Amstrong Ultra® in the strength range of 690 – 890 – 960 – 1100 MPa in the thickness range of 5 – 300 mm and lengths up to 17 meters. Abrasion-resistant sheets are made either in the Relia line as a traditional low-alloy martensitic grade in the Relia 400 range (guaranteed hardness 370 – 430 HB) – Relia 450 (420 – 480 HB) – Relia 500 (470 – 530 HB), or in the patented Creusabro series with a unique metallurgical concept based on Cr, Mo and Ni alloy, which allows a further increase in surface hardness of about 70 HB during use. Our armoured plates produced under the Mars brand at various levels of armouring (Mars 190 – 220 – 240 – 300 – 600), even in perforated design, ensure, thanks to their patented chemical composition, a high degree of ballistic protection at low unit weights. Emerging in the Industeel range are also tool steels (for both hot and cold work) and injection moulding steels, which, in addition to standard grades, are also manufactured under the patented Superplast brand in several alternatives (Superplast 300 – 350 – 400 – Premium – Stainless).
